Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara safari
Our guide will meet you after your breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, have a brief briefing on our 6 Days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari. After we transfer you to Maasai Mara National Reserve passing through small and large Maasai Towns. We will reach to the Reserve in the late afternoon, check in for lunch and refreshments. Go for evening game drive in which you will expect to see various animals including the black maned Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Cheetah, Buffalos and other plain’s game.
Day 2: Full Day at Maasai Mara game reserve
Start our 6 Days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari with an early breakfast, after we proceed for a morning game drive in search for the African Big five and other wild game. Return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon you will go for another game drive following different tracks, which will give you an opportunity to see even more animals.
Day 3: Transfer from Maasai Mara to Serengeti National Park
You will have a very early breakfast and checkout from the lodge by 6:00am. You will have a game drive on your way to Isebania, this day will take you to other side of Maasai Mara as you exit the park via Oloololo gate in Mara west. Upon arrival at the border the customs office will do clearance after which proceed to our next destination of 6 Days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari that is Serengeti where you will enter the park with enroute game drive as we drive to our camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Full day at the Serengeti National Park
After your early breakfast, we shall go for a morning game drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which twists into the plains south of the Seronera River, some of the wildlife to look out for in this section include the Lions, Thomson gazelles, topi, ostriches and cheetahs.
After your game drive, you will proceed to the Visitor Centre which is close to the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites. The Centre offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The shop also as refreshment, and we shall therefore have our lunch from there.
Later in the afternoon we will hit another part of 6 Days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari drive through the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, this circuit is known for having a number of lions and some very large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. The Kopjes are good hunting grounds for lions especially in dry seasons when most wildlife come to drink up.
Day 5: Serengeti Plains – Ngorongoro crater
After breakfast at the lodge do we depart to Ngorongoro Conservation area on our 6 Days Maasai Mara and Serengeti Safari. We will stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting with a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution.
We arrive in time for lunch at the crater entrance and after lunch we will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife for a half day safari tour. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest migration, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is it’s dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually have been seen here.
Day 6 – Ngorongoro crater – Arusha
Enjoy breakfast, after which we will transfer back to Arusha. Upon arrival in Arusha will we have lunch and then we will end our African safari adventure. It is possible to have an additional half day game drive at Ngorongoro conservation area if you are not restricted to an early departure time from Arusha, please note additional cost will apply.
